Just under a week and then King Willem-Alexander and his family will come to Maastricht. The preparations for King’s Day are now in full swing.
It is already turning orange in several places in the city.

catering industry
The catering industry along the route is busy with preparations. The municipality has decided that shops and catering establishments do not have to close their doors that day. And the entrepreneurs like that.
Cables
André Rieu will give a performance on the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein on the King’s birthday. To prepare the square for this, a number of technical interventions are required. For example, cables have been stretched so that the music of the Maastricht violinist and his orchestra can be heard clearly.

The route is one kilometer from the Sint Servaasbrug via Het Bat and Onze Lieve Vrouweplein to the Vrijthof. On Thursday afternoon, the graffiti on the Sint Servaasbrug – the starting point of the royal walk – was tackled with a high-pressure spray. Furthermore, the sewer wells have been cleaned and the gardens have been raked so that they are in perfect condition.
Live Maastricht
King’s Day 2022 will not just be a festive day. With the theme ‘Live Maastricht!’ the provincial capital is going big. Topics such as music, innovation, culture and Burgundian life are central. The royal couple and the princesses can count on performances from Limburg soil. André Rieu and his orchestra, DJ duo Lucas & Steve, Rowwen Hèze, Beppie Kraft and various brass bands provide musical entertainment.
The municipality of Maastricht expects between 25,000 and 35,000 visitors in the city that day.

Live
The royal family is expected next Wednesday around 11 a.m. The program lasts about two hours, but the party then continues in the provincial capital. The visit of Willem-Alexander and his family can be followed live at L1.
