PSG interplay with Donnarumma – Navas: “The situation has to change”

Probably no other football club is as prominent in the goalkeeper position as Paris Saint-Germain. Gianluigi Donnarumma (23), who signed for free from AC Milan in 2021, and Keylor Navas (35) are dueling between the posts. The former has made 22 appearances this season, while his opponent has made 23 appearances. The interplay obviously annoys those involved, although the connection between the two goalkeepers seems to be intact.

Navas (quoted via Hadrien Grenier) not to be judged in the conversation with “Canal +”. “You have to study things. I have a good relationship with Gigio,” the Costa Rican clarified. “I want to play every game. A situation like this year becomes complicated. We’ll see,” said Navas, who indicated: “The situation has to change one way or another.” He left it open what such a change could look like.

Navas was signed by Real Madrid in 2019 for 15 million euros and has since played 103 games for the French capital club, 48 of them without a goal. His contract in Paris ends in 2024. Meanwhile, Donnarumma is tied to the club until 2026, two years longer. The Italian kept a clean sheet eight times in his 22 matches.

In view of the clear age difference, it is obvious that he clearly outstrips his opponent Navas in terms of market value. Donnarumma has also been linked to a summer exit in recent months due to the competitive situation in Paris.
