Managing Director Dietmar Beiersdorfer from FC Ingolstadt, who have been relegated to the second division, wants to tackle the coming season with coach Rüdiger Rehm and sports director Malte Metzelder. The duo has been working “with full commitment since December last year” to align and lead the “license team in a future-oriented manner in order to be able to be successful again,” explained Beiersdorfer in an interview on the Schanzer homepage.
With four games still to play, Ingolstadt is already ten points behind relegation rank 16 – on Friday after the game at Karlsruher SC, relegation to the 3rd division could be sealed for the promoted team. Nevertheless, there will be no change on the coaching bench in the summer, Beiersdorfer emphasized: “We will continue to work hard on this task for the FCI in this constellation in the future.”
At the beginning of December, Rehm succeeded André Schubert as coach, who in turn had only taken over from Roberto Pätzold in September. With 0.86 points in his 14 games, Rehm holds the best average of the FCI coaches this season.
