Oilers take big step towards playoffs, NHL – NHL – Hockey

It was 4: 0 (1: 0, 0: 0, 3: 0) for Edmonton on Sunday night (04/17/2022) against the Vegas Golden Nights. It was the second 4-0 win in a row after the Oilers had beaten Nashville by that score the day before. With that, the Oilers extended their lead over the non-playoff spots to seven points.

Back up again with a brace at Ottawa

Six games are still outstanding in the main round. The Oilers are second in their division behind the already qualified Calgary Flames, with Vegas fourth. The top three are guaranteed a ticket to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Tim Stützle extended his points streak to eight games and scored another brace. In the 4:5 after the Ottawa Senators overtime against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Stützle scored to make it 1:0 and 4:3 and now has 20 goals this season. The 20-year-old from Viersen has scored in four of the last five games, in each of the last three games.

He had already scored a brace against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. He has been involved in at least one Senators goal in the past eight games. Ottawa no longer has a chance of making the playoffs.
