The defense successfully argued, among other things, that the prosecution’s assessment of the professionals was incorrect, as the FIGC announced. The reasons for the verdict will be announced in the coming days.
The club bosses of Juventus Turin, SSC Napoli and also Tottenham Hotspur in England locks had threatened. At the start of the proceedings before the FIGC sports court, the prosecution had demanded suspensions of twelve months for Juve’s club boss Andrea Agnelli and more than 16 months for the former manager of the record champions, Fabio Paratici. He has been Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director since the summer of 2021 premier league. A total of 61 officials had been accused of falsifying the financial reports of eleven clubs involved – including five from Serie A – in recent years.
