An overtaking beyond the continuous line, the car hitting a group of cyclists, a 41 year old woman dead. Accident on the morning of Sunday 21 June in Sicily near Palermo. Mirela Nicoletta Rusu lost her life. The companion who was with her was taken to the emergency room in a state of shock, while another cyclist was transferred by ambulance in yellow code, therefore not in danger of life, to the Ingrassia hospital.

According to initial reconstructions, during an overtaking maneuver on a stretch with continuous line horizontal signs, a Fiat 500X headed for Pioppo, a hamlet of Monreale, driven by a 38-year-old, invaded the other lane, hitting cyclists going to Palermo. The woman died instantly. The body was returned to the family by magistrates. The municipal police and the carabinieri of Pioppo and Monreale are investigating, coordinated by the prosecutor’s office led by Maurizio de Lucia. The driver of the car tested negative for alcohol. Shortly after the fatal collision, condolences arrived from the Sicilian Cycling Federation: “We want to remember you Nicoleta like this. With your contagious and sunny smile, just as your love for cycling was contagious”.
