After coach Ole Werner left RB Leipzig, Red Bull football boss Jürgen Klopp is currently receiving a lot of criticism. Record national player Lothar Matthäus does not believe the former BVB coach that he only played a minor role in the decision against Werner.

“Klopp is Leipzig, without Klopp nothing works anymore. Even if he acts somewhat innocently on the outside and says that the people from Leipzig decide. Without Klopp there are no footballing decisions in the Red Bull cosmos. He is the sole ruler,” said Matthäus at “Bild” about the coaching quake in Leipzig.

The Saxons parted ways with their coach on Wednesday, even though Werner had achieved all of his goals for the season and led the team back to the Champions League.

Klopp subsequently asserted that this decision was ultimately made in Leipzig alone.

“We thought about what it could look like with the burden that we were facing. Then they decided to make the change in Leipzig,” the 59-year-old summarized it on “MagentaTV”.

Klopp also transfer boss at RB Leipzig?

According to media reports, disagreements between Klopp and Werner were a major reason for the coach’s departure.

According to “Sport Bild”, there was a dispute about the desired style of play, and Klopp “felt personally attacked” several times in the discussions with Werner. In the second half of the season, the head of football therefore called for Werner to be fired twice.

Matthäus is sure that RB will no longer deviate from its chosen course. The former Bayern captain believes that Klopp will continue to have a decisive influence on the fortunes of the Red Bulls and even make the most important transfer decisions personally.

“Of course he doesn’t make his other people weak in public, but I do believe that if a transfer from Diomande becomes open and the offers come in, then I believe that he will have the last word in the end,” said Matthäus, referring to Leipzig’s much-courted offensive star.
