In the Instagram universe there are not only human accounts, there are also users linked to pets and animals of different species. One of the most popular profiles is that of Pooh Bearan English mastiff with solid and powerful features, who usually uploads content from different daily recordings and artificial images accompanied by other dogs and adventure companions.
In parallel to the victory in the debut of the Argentine national team in the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a 3 to 0 against Algeria, led by the Albiceleste captain Lionel Messi, The Pooh Bear account shared an AI reel of the famous dog with the president Javier Milei on the field of a soccer stadium before starting a game. In his profile with 186,000 followers, the quadruped is accompanied by the president for photos of the event.
It has long been known that the Argentine president’s bond with his pets transcends the private sphere to become a phenomenon of public debate, political mysticism and rigorous journalistic coverage. For the president, his English mastiffs are not mere pets, but rather his “four-legged children”, an indispensable emotional support that, according to his own statements over the years, saved him from absolute isolation and accompanied him in his darkest moments of loneliness, when politics and the media spotlight were still a distant horizon.
The cornerstone of this story is Conan, the original mastiff that Milei adopted in 2004 and whose name was inspired by the film Conan the barbarian. After a long life together, Conan died in May 2017 due to spinal cord cancer. That loss plunged the then economist into a deep crisis. Faced with the impossibility of accepting his final departure, Milei had previously sent tissue samples to the American laboratories PerPETuate and ViaGen Pets in 2014. Through a process of cellular preservation and subsequent genetic cloning, the specimens that today inhabit Quinta de Olivos were born at the beginning of 2018.
Currently, the exact number of dogs owned by the head of state remains under persistent institutional ambiguity. While the official version of the president vehemently insists that there are five mastiffs, various photographic records and journalistic investigations suggest that there are currently four. Five canine figures are carved on the presidential staff that he received upon assuming office.
The animals were baptized by the president himself with the names of liberal economists whom he deeply admires: Murray (for Rothbard), Milton (for Friedman), Robert and Lucas (both in honor of Nobel laureate Robert Lucas). The fifth clone was again named Conan, due to its notable physical and behavioral similarities to the original dog. Milei assures that he did not choose the names, but that “they were the ones who chose them”, and does not make biological distinctions, considering the current Conan as his “son”. The daily dynamics in the presidential residence forced the construction of individual air-conditioned kennels.

Journalist Juan Luis González, political editor of NOTICIAS and author of The FoolMilei’s unauthorized biography, revealed that the president did not assimilate the biological death of the original Conan and that he resorted to mediums and “interspecies communicators” to contact the animal on the astral plane. According to the book, these supposed esoteric conversations opened a “channel of light” through which Milei claims to dialogue directly with God, who would have entrusted him with his political mission in Argentina.
González’s research also raised the possibility that one of the cloned clones had recently died, fueling debate over the real number of pets. Given the repeated questions at the Casa Rosada press conferences about whether the dogs were four or five, former presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni classified the questions as an intolerable intrusion into the president’s private life. An aspect in the life of the head of state that transcended borders and even in the midst of the global climate reached social networks around the planet.
