The expert analyzes the main topics of the Ostrava gold series athletics competition.

Noah Lyles is the new world record holder. The American ran 150 meters with a time of 14.67 seconds in the Golden Spike competition in Ostrava on Tuesday.

– Lyles left slowly, but he knows that the end will fly. The end was wild, but that’s not nearly the maximum for him. That was a result of 19.70 in the 200 meters, commented Iltalehti’s expert Arto Bryggare.

Lyles’ record for 100 meters is 9.79 and 19.31 seconds for 200 meters.

– Lyles is great to watch because he technically runs so brilliantly.

Lyles rushed his result in zero wind. South Africa ran in second place on Tuesday in the northeast corner of the Czech Republic Sinesipho Dambi (14.78) and Australia’s prodigy third Gout Gout (14.96).

The old ME was Jamaican by Kishane Thompson 14.92 seconds.

– Dambi also finished really strong. The situation with gout is somewhat similar to With Usain Bolt at the beginning of his career: a stick-legged guy who needs a bit of gunpowder in his thighs, and even a hundred will go.

In Bryggare’s opinion, the 150-meter distance is more suitable for those sprinters whose main sport is 200 meters.

– For example, 150 meters is a long distance for Jamaica’s Thompson. On the other hand, if you want to be the best runner in the world at 100 meters, you have to go second.

150 meters is not, so to speak, an official athletics sport, and it is not part of the prestigious competition program. The International Association of Athletics Federations does not keep statistics on 150m times on its website.

– I support such special trips – just like the 300-meter fences. This is where old things are crushed a bit, Bryggare commented.

– In Usain Bolt’s 200-meter ME time of 19.19 seconds, 150 meters went in about 14 seconds. It tells about the 150 meter ME time in Ostrava on Tuesday, the expert adds.

Swiss patty

Audrey Werro is a Swiss runner. PDO

Rainy and cold weather delayed the results of the competition in Ostrava.

Along with Lyles, according to the expert, the face of the evening was Switzerland Audrey Werro.

– Werro’s run was superb. The hare left after 400 meters. It would be important for the hare to pull up to 500 meters. The back straight is then mentally easier to roll.

Werro even talked about a world record before the women’s 800m race, but it was left alone. The result of 1.54.45 is still rock hard. Earlier this season in Stockholm, Werro ran the all-time triple time of 1:53.98.

– Now there were zero winds, so the conditions were better than in Stockholm.

Playfully called Jarmo in Finland Jarmila Kratochvílová rushed ME time in Munich on July 26, 1983.

Another very interesting woman in Ostrava’s kasi was Holland Femke Bol. The champion of the fenced track circuit will make his debut on outdoor tracks at 800 meters. He was second in the race (1.57,13).

– Bol’s first competitive performance after the hall season was a tough bet. He is on his way to medals at the European Championships – let’s face it, kasi is usually very surprising.

Same man again

Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage is the strongest javelin thrower in the world at the moment. PDO

The two strongest spearmen in the world so far this season Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and Anderson Peters collided on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s groundhog (86.57 meters) beat Grenada’s boar (84.27). The men’s head-to-head is now 3-2 in favor of Peters.

– Terrible bet. The body is tight, and it doesn’t leak anywhere, so the energy is transferred to the medium. The Sri Lankan man’s hand is in terrible shape.

Pathirage has competed a total of five times between March and June. The best throws in the series have been: 89.37, 89.28, 85.97, 92.62 and Tuesday’s 86.57 meters.

– He was upset when he “only” got 86 meters. Nice work.

The expert was also pleased with the men’s 100 meters, when the 20-year-old from South Africa Bayanda Walaza won with a record 9.94 seconds.

– A great result in zero wind. It would have been 9.80 in super races.

Rap for senders

Bryggare was indignant at the broadcasters of the Ostrava competition.

– It’s a bad thing when the level of senders was so low and it varied.

In sprints, there are usually two different practices: the starting pistol bangs quickly after the ready command, or the athletes jog for a long time in the ready position.

– Now there was no line of any kind, but there was a lot of variation. Athletes need to know approximately the style where they are going.

Bryggare recommends a quick departure.

– The longer the reaction time, the greater the risk of a thief leaving. A quick departure is fairer. That’s how it’s usually done in the US – it’s good.

The Golden Spike competition belonged to the International Athletics Federation’s gold series, i.e. on the same level as the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku. It is the second highest league level after the Diamond League.

There were no Finns in Ostrava.
