The contract poker between FC Bayern Munich and Konrad Laimer has been dragging on for months. Now a decision seems to have been made.
The Austrian national player Konrad Laimer and FC Bayern Munich are apparently about to extend their contract. As the “Kicker” reports, the long poker is coming to an end. After the 29-year-old defensive player and the German record champions were too far apart in their salary expectations, the parties are now said to have come closer together.

The discussions are said to have lasted more than six months. Laimer, who is particularly valued for his versatility, has been playing for Bayern since summer 2023. His contract runs until June 30, 2027. At the end of the contract term, the Austrian would be 30 years old.
“There are two points of view that don’t fit together at the moment. We want to extend with Konni, that’s a fact. Now we have to somehow find a bridge when it comes to ideas,” said sports director Max Eberl in the final spurt of the Bundesliga.

After costly contract extensions, the Munich-based Laimer team had shown restraint when it came to personnel costs. “Konni is a player that I really appreciate. He is extremely important for the team, as well as for the club’s external image. He works an incredible amount for the team,” said Honorary President Uli Hoeneß at DAZN, “but he is not Maradona. And such players have to accept that there are limits.”
If an agreement is reached now, FC Bayern would have planning security in the right-back position for the coming years. In addition to Laimer, Josip Stanišić is slated for this position. The Munich team is keen to strengthen itself at left-back. National player Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt will come there. The Canadian Alphonso Davies already plays as a left-back at FC Bayern.
