A pink house, influencers on stage and an anti-colonial message: Bad Bunny’s “La Casita” fascinates and polarizes – now also in Düsseldorf.

Bad Bunny is in the house! Or rather in “La Casita”. For his “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour”, the reggaeton artist is putting a pink house in the sold-out stadiums. In it, selected fans and influencers dance together with the singer during the show. Behind the stage design is a symbol of decolonization and resistance. But the question of who is allowed into “La Casita” overshadows the concerts.

For his world tour, Bad Bunny is now traveling to Düsseldorf and playing on two evenings – on June 20th and 21st – in the Merkur Spiel-Arena. German fans are asking themselves on social media: Who will be invited to the house? And who is dancing outside?

A house as a symbol of resistance

“La Casita” is based on a real house in Humacao. The Puerto Rican artist honors the history of the local population and commemorates the oppression of the Afro-Caribbean population in the context of slavery.

However, the anti-colonialist message behind “La Casita” is drowned out by critical voices that accuse the concept of the exclusive party of having a classist and objectifying aftertaste: mainly female celebrities and influencers can be seen on stage. Feminist voices particularly criticize the objectifying presentation of the women dancing there. In addition, the mostly normally beautiful people would fuel an unrealistic and one-sided ideal of beauty – one that is influenced by the West and thus contradicts Bad Bunny’s decolonization message.

Inclusion or exclusion?

At the same time, “La Casita” stimulates a debate about how inclusive this statement can be. If only rich, beautiful people with great media influence gain access, it undermines a stage image that was originally intended to stand for resistance and oppression. However, there are also fans who would like to have noticed that a more diverse and less beauty-focused group was at “La Casita” at the last shows in Madrid. Perhaps Bad Bunny’s team reflected on the selection process due to the allegations.

But all the criticism does not detract from “La Casita” its appeal. On TikTok, many young women ask: “What do I have to do to get into ‘La Casita’?” One thing is certain above all: influencers will be there again.

But fans can also hope for their moment in the same house as Bad Bunny – concert-goers with standing room probably have the best chance. Before the show, members of Bad Bunny’s team walk through the arena and address visitors. Style and charisma are certainly still an advantage.

The internet is wondering: Which famous personalities will we see dancing in the pink house? Names like Palina Rojinski, Pati Valpatti and Heidi Klum are part of the speculation. However, there are currently no confirmations.

Outside or inside?

But while some are praying for their place in “La Casita”, others think that the mood among the normal people and fangirls is much better anyway. Because even in the top ranks people jump, rap and dance with their whole bodies – true to the motto: Dance like nobody’s watching. It’s much harder to let go when you’re standing on a stage in front of thousands of people.
