After the obligation to purchase Loïs Openda (26), who was loaned from RB Leipzig for 42.75 million euros, was activated, Jérémie Boga will also remain at Juventus Turin beyond the change of season. After the 29-year-old offensive all-rounder came on loan from OGC Nice in January, the Bianconeri activated the purchase option. According to the Italian record champions, a transfer fee of 4.8 million euros will flow to the south of France, which can increase by 800,000 euros through bonuses. Boga has received a contract until 2029 in Piedmont.
The 24-time Ivory Coast international, who is not in coach Emerse Faé’s World Cup squad, was largely convincing in Turin and contributed four goals and an assist in 15 Serie A games. Due to his time at US Sassuolo, for which he scored 18 goals and nine assists in 102 games, Boga enjoys a good reputation in Italy. However, he was unable to make a decisive impact at Atalanta Bergamo after his 22 million euro transfer in 2022. In 2023 he then moved on to Nice for 17.5 million euros.
Boga had a good first year on the Côte d’Azur with twelve goals in 28 games, but was subsequently unable to maintain his form due to injury. During the sporting crisis, in which Nice only managed to stay in the relegation zone, Boga and his strike partner Terem Moffi (27) were physically attacked by OGC supporters (more on the background).
Boga, who was accused of a lack of commitment and is said to have offered fans from Marseille – his hometown – tickets for the game (1:5), was beaten; on the head, on the upper body, in the intimate area. The same fate befell Moffi, who was filmed against Lorient laughing with his former club president Loïc Féry on the verge of defeat. Both then fled Nice during the winter transfer period. Moffi’s future, he went to Porto on loan, but is still open.
