Residents of the Hoogstraat in Klundert complain a lot about dangerous situations on their doorstep. After the repaving, some posts disappeared. Cars and trucks are now speeding along the sidewalk. View the images here.
One car after another drives across the sidewalk, as can be seen in the images. Vans and trucks also continue their way on the sidewalk because the street is too narrow for oncoming traffic.
And residents in the street have had enough of that. Previously, there were posts on the sidewalk to stop cars, but they have been removed since the Hoogstraat has been renovated. The neighborhood is upset about that.
Sidewalk laid too slopingly
“We first have to stick our heads out of the front door to see if we can walk out the door,” a concerned local resident previously told Omroep Brabant. The sidewalk is also said to be too sloping, causing people with walkers, wheelchairs and strollers to roll from the sidewalk to the road.
A few local residents went to the municipality, but their complaints have not yet led to a solution.
It is not clear if and when the missing posts will return. The municipality of Moerdijk, to which Klundert falls, has not yet responded to questions from Omroep Brabant.
