A new special board of directors at the social housing company Anderlechtse Haard voted for a temporary step aside of the discredited chairman Lotfi Mostefa (PS). Yago Bastin, board member of the Anderlechtse Haard voor Anders, announced this on Monday. This time the necessary quorum would have been reached.
Also last week there was a special board of directors at the Anderlechtse Haard, which was convened through an exceptional procedure by vice-chairman Marcela Gori (MR). Five directors had requested this, but according to the directors of the MR and Anders, the quorum was not met due to the absence of the PS directors. The purpose of the meeting was to ask about the temporary release of Lotfi Mostefa from his position as chairman of the board of directors, following the Pano report on possible abuses at the Anderlechtse Haard.
A new attempt was made on Monday, which, according to Anders, this time achieved the required quorum. Vice-President Gori also confirms this.
Anders director Yago Bastin says that the board of directors could continue according to the applicable rules, despite a last procedural attempt, and that a valid vote could be taken. Bastin emphasizes that a temporary step aside by the chairman is not a condemnation in advance, but a “necessary decision in the name of serenity, transparency and good governance”. “Only in this way can the ongoing investigations do their work and confidence in the Anderlechtse Haard can be restored step by step,” he says.
A judicial investigation is currently underway into the possible abuses at the Anderlechtse Haard. The Brussels Parliament also set up a committee of inquiry.
