FC Bayern’s basketball players fell short of expectations in the second final game. Alba Berlin crowns a defensive feat and now has two home games.

Despite a committed performance, FC Bayern Munich suffered a setback in the second final game of the German basketball championship. The Munich team lost to Alba Berlin 79:86 (45:40) in front of their home crowd after convincingly winning the opening game of the series. This means the best-of-five series is now 1-1.

The defending champions had the game under control for a long time and went into halftime with a lead. But after the break, Alba increasingly found her way into the game and posed problems for Bayern with her aggressive defense. In the end, the Munich team lacked the necessary penetration to achieve their second final victory.

Dimitrijevic best thrower, Obst falls short of expectations

FC Bayern’s best thrower was Nenad Dimitrijevic with 20 points. National player Andreas Obst also contributed twelve points, but was unable to match his outstanding performance from the first final. There he showed one of the best final performances in recent decades with 33 points.

The starting position remains promising for coach Svetislav Pesic’s team. After a strong playoff season so far, the Munich team want to provide the right answer in the third game on Wednesday in Berlin and regain their home advantage.

Title defense remained as the main target

After the disappointing exit in the Euroleague and the missed cup win, the German championship is Bayern’s big goal this season. The motivation to win the series back on their own side and take another step towards defending their title is correspondingly high.
