Brazil did not convince in its World Cup opening.
Brazil’s Lucas Paquetá ended up the target of criticism. PDO
Brazil, starred by Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha, drew 1-1 in their World Cup opener against Morocco.
Morocco took the lead in the match when Ismael Saibari waved the goal nets in the 21st minute of the game.
Brazil drew level before half-time when Vinícius Júnior scored his first goal of the tournament (32nd).
That’s it. That left the goals.
After the match, several Brazilian players ended up the target of strong criticism. One of them was former West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá, who was selected for the opener.
Paquetá, who now represents the Brazilian club Flamengo, failed to convince the experts.
– Paquetá was completely lost, SVT’s expert Behrang Safari stated, continuing:
– He gave several stray passes.
SVT’s second expert Bojan Djordjic took the criticism even further on the channel’s live TV broadcast.
– I thought he was drunk for the first 45 minutes. Not at all, but that was exactly right, Djordjic said according to Expressen, referring to Safari’s view.
Brazil’s ranks were missing the country’s long-time star player Neymar, who has suffered from injury concerns during the Games. According to the Brazilian team management, Neymar is supposed to be fit to play next week when Brazil faces Haiti (June 20).
