In the season before last, the Slovenian Anamarija Lampic raised great hopes in her homeland with two podium places in the Biathlon World Cup. But in the Olympic winter, almost everything went wrong for the 30-year-old. She judges herself accordingly harshly.

66th place in the overall World Cup, 17th place in the Otepää sprint as the best individual result – Anamarija Lampic has undoubtedly had a useful year.

The ski hunter once again made it clear to the Slovenian Ski Association how frustrating the last few months have been for her.

“I would like to forget last season and put a tick under it. It was the worst of my entire sporting career,” said Lampic with brutal honesty.

New head coach should revive biathlon career

With the signing of the Italian Armin Auchentaller as the new head coach, the Slovenian is hoping for an upswing in the coming months.

“We’re starting from scratch and I want it to work. I want us to keep the momentum because we’re making good progress and motivating each other. The new additions bring new perspectives and will certainly give us a fresh boost,” said Lampic, looking optimistically into the future.

After the Winter Olympics, the 30-year-old sounded completely different. “This is the lowest point of my sports career,” admitted Lampic after she only finished 78th in the sprint. “I would like to get on a plane, fly to some beach and forget everything.”

The experienced biathlete’s disrupted preparation was her downfall. Due to various illnesses, Lampic had built up a training backlog of around a month before the Olympics. “And that’s what I feel,” Lampic explained at the time.

The break after the competitions was even more important to clear your head. It appears that Lampic has overcome her personal lows – even if the memories of the 2025/2026 horror season have not yet completely disappeared.
