Bundesliga newcomers Austria Lustenau introduced another new signing on Friday: Danilo Soares is returning to the country. The 34-year-old full-back comes on a free transfer from German second division club 1. FC Nürnberg, where his contract, which expired at the end of the season, was not extended. In Lustenau, the veteran receives a working paper that runs until 2028.
Soares was already involved with the then second division club between 2010 and 2013, and he played 91 competitive games for Vorarlberg during this period. In 2013, the defender moved to Germany, where he made it into the Bundesliga via Ingolstadt. Soares played a total of 59 national and 202 second division games in his 13 years in Germany. In the past season he only played three times for Nuremberg.
Sports director Dieter Alge said: “With Danilo we are getting a player who will help us with his experience in the Bundesliga. He not only brings exceptional quality on the pitch, but also embodies the mentality and professionalism that are enormously valuable for our team. In addition, his profile fits perfectly into our playing philosophy and is also a personal enrichment for our young team.”
