Next departure at 1. FC Nürnberg: Right-back Jannik Hofmann is staying at Rot-Weiss Essen after his loan. Both clubs confirmed this. The 24-year-old has played 31 games (three goals, five assists) since his arrival last summer and increased his market value to 400,000 euros. Before Hofmann, the FCN also reported the departures of Danilo Soares and Fabio Gruber on Friday (for all transfers in 2026/27).

RWE director of professional football Marcus Steegmann said of the permanent signing: “We are very pleased that we can now continue our common path with Jannik on a long-term basis. Last season he showed what qualities he brings and how valuable he can be for our team. With his enormous speed, his distinctive mentality and his strength in tackling, he will continue to give our game important impetus in the future. We are convinced that his development potential is far from exhausted and we look forward to taking the next steps together.”

Hofmann, who came to the club in 2008 and played ten times for the professionals, emphasized: “I’m pleased that a permanent move to Essen worked out. Since my first day here, I immediately felt at home. The city, the fans and the club gave me a really good feeling right from the start. I was able to take another step in my development here, which I want to continue here. I feel very comfortable here and am already looking forward to the new season.”
