According to the German Handball Association (DHB), von Pereira had informed national coach Markus Gaugisch, among others, before making her decision. He also commented. The head of defense quickly became an important part of the team with her sporting qualities as well as her personality off the pitch, he said: “Aimée was an important player in our plans. We regret her decision.”
The 26-year-old defender recently struggled with illness, injuries and rehab for a long time. Now she wants to put her health first. She played 19 times for the DHB team, scoring 9 goals. With Germany she won the silver medal at the 2025 World Cup.
