Due to a fire in Woerden, no trains are running on the routes between Utrecht and The Hague and Utrecht and Rotterdam. The NS let us know. For the time being, the forecast is that the trains will start running again at 8:15 p.m., ProRail reports. At least three trains, carrying a total of 1,300 passengers, are stranded near Woerden. An evacuation is organized for them.

A train has already been evacuated. The travelers were taken to the station in Woerden. The passengers of the two other trains are evacuated by bus.

The safety region reports that there was a fire in a transformer station in Woerden on Groen van Prinstererlaan. “When the fire brigade arrived, black smoke was coming from the building.” The safety region says that the fire brigade, together with Stedin and ProRail, has secured the situation.

The fire brigade has now extinguished the fire in the substation. The cause of the fire is still unknown. It is clear that many parts in the substation have been seriously damaged, ProRail reports. ‘Specialists are present to assess the damage and carry out repairs, but this will take quite some time. That is why there will be no trains on the routes around Woerden next evening.’
