The government wants to better protect gamblers with an almost complete advertising ban for online gambling and a tougher approach to illegal gambling sites. Since the liberalization of the gambling market in 2021, the number of addicts has risen sharply, forcing State Secretary Claudia van Bruggen (Gaming) to intervene.
