In the 2020-2021 school year, the school allowance was reclaimed from 1,366 families. That is a doubling compared to the 617 recoveries the previous school year. This is evident from figures requested by CD&V MP Katrien Schryvers. The increase can possibly be explained by the reduction of compulsory education from 6 to 5 years, the stricter attendance conditions and perhaps also by the corona crisis.
