Julien Duranville has been considered a possible departure from Borussia Dortmund for weeks. Now the sale of the winged car appears to be nearing completion.
As “Sky” reported on Thursday, Duranville is about to move to Olympique Lyon. According to the report, the 20-year-old has already agreed on a long-term contract with the French.
According to Sky, the negotiations between the two clubs are already well advanced, even if the final details still need to be clarified. BVB is probably still hoping to secure a buyback option in order to be protected if Duranville does manage to make a breakthrough.
However, based on the current status, participation in resales is much more likely.
Positive from BVB’s perspective: According to the report, BVB will receive around 8.5 million euros for Duranville, which is almost exactly the amount that the black and yellow initially transferred to RSC Anderlecht. However, the sum is said to have grown to around 13 million euros over the years.
Duranville missed the breakthrough at BVB
In January 2023, the then 16-year-old Belgian moved to the Ruhr area, but he was never able to meet the high expectations. The fast winger repeatedly showed off his skills, but his performances were rarely sustainable.
In the winter he was loaned to Basel, where he was supposed to gain match practice. A plan that only partially worked. Duranville only played a minor role in Switzerland and was considered a sales candidate ever since.
In addition, Duranville has repeatedly been stopped by injuries in recent years. In addition, the Belgian’s commitment, body language and attitude are said to have been a problem for some managers at BVB.
