The latest public report of Giacobbe & Associatescarried out between May 29 and June 3, 2026 on a sample of 2,500 cases throughout the country, draws a panorama of widespread economic malaise: the 39.8% of Argentines affirm that the economy is worsening rapidlywhile another 14.6% maintain that they do so, although more slowly. In total, more than half of the population perceives a deterioration underway.

The photo is completed with a 8.1% who see the situation as stagnant and just a 36% who perceive some type of improvement: 23.3% believe that the economy is moving slowly in a positive direction, and 12.7% believe that it is doing so quickly. 1.5% did not respond or did not know.

This climate is reinforced in the so-called “frontier of tolerable pain”: when asked whether the worst of the crisis has already passed or is yet to come, the 57.8% responded that the worst has not yet arrivedcompared to 40.3% who trust that the floor has already been touched. Only 1.9% did not speak out.

The image of the president Javier Milei accompanies that state of mind: 55% of those consulted evaluate it negativelyagainst 34.2% who do so positively and 9.1% who place it in the regular range. This is a positive image that reached its historical peak in May 2024, when it reached 58.7%, and has registered a downward trend since then.

In the ranking of images of the main leaders, Patricia Bullrich leads with the highest positive percentage: 38.8%although it carries a 49.5% negative image. They follow him Kicillof (34.8% positive), Milei (34.2%) and Cristina Kirchner (29.2%). At the opposite extreme, Mauricio Macri reaps the greatest negative image: 62.5%followed by Victoria Villarruel with 57.9% rejection.

When asked about the country’s main problem, the words that dominated the cloud of answers were corruption, economy, unemployment and insecurity. Terms such as poverty, inflation, Milei, Kirchnerism and Peronism also appeared with significant weight, reflecting a citizen reading that mixes structural problems with accusations against the political figures of the moment.
