World first for UZ Leuven: PET scanner helps detect dementia and Parkinson’s at an early stage

UZ Leuven is the first hospital in the world to use the new NeuroExplorer PET scanner clinically on patients. The device makes early signals of brain diseases visible, years before the first symptoms appear. According to Prof. Koen Van Laere, this revolutionary device will contribute to an earlier diagnosis of conditions such as ALS, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
