Archery National Teams Coach Yusuf Göktuğ Ergin said, “There is a national team that has become the target of the world. Our athletes are followed very closely. Countries are making efforts to beat our athletes.” he said.
Ergin said that the 3rd leg competitions of the Archery World Cup continued at Belek Tourism Center in Antalya’s Serik district, with the participation of 334 athletes from 42 countries.
Reminding that they won 5 medals in the first leg of the World Cup in Mexico and 6 medals in the second leg in China, Ergin stated that they competed with a total of 16 athletes in the coil bow and classical bow categories in the Antalya leg.
Stating that their goal in Antalya is to surpass the number of medals in the China stage, Ergin noted that the last part of the season is approaching.
Stating that the last leg of the World Cup will be held in Madrid, Ergin stated that they are working to include more athletes in the finals.
“THE COMPETITIONS AND OUR COMPETITORS ARE NOW GETTING DIFFICULT”
Emphasizing that Turkish archery aims to be at the top in every organization it participates in, Ergin said that the level of competition is increasing day by day.
“We always want to raise the bar. Competitions and our opponents are getting harder now.” Ergin said, “There is a national team that has become the target of the world. Our athletes are followed very closely. Countries are making efforts to beat our athletes.” he said.
Yusuf Göktuğ Ergin stated that Turkish athletes stand out in the international arena with their success and said, “There was a situation in which Korean athletes were always the target in archery, as a tradition from the past. Turkish athletes are one of the target countries with their success in both classical bow and reel bow. I can say that we are one of the three best countries in the world.” he said.
Emphasizing that this situation made them the target of nearly 40 countries coming to the World Cup, Ergin said that the competition in the world also increased.
