Shortly before the start of the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, Transfermarkt looks at the players who recorded the biggest jump in market value last season. The top 20, which are spread across 14 clubs, include two German high-flyers, Lennart Karl (18) from FC Bayern and Said El Mala (19) from 1. FC Köln, who will have to watch the finals from their sofas. At the top of the ranking is also a Bundesliga professional who has managed to get himself onto the notice boards of top international clubs with his performances: RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. Click here for the complete statistics.

The 19-year-old Ivorian will challenge the DFB team with Ivory Coast on June 20th. Now valued at 90 million euros, the offensive player is by far the most valuable player in his national team, followed by Amad Diallo (45 million euros) and Ousmane Diomande (42 million euros). On July 16th, the Leipzig team released Diomande from the second division club CD Leganés and, with the help of an exit clause of 20 million euros, made him the Spaniards’ shared record departure.

“With Yan Diomande, we have managed to sign an absolute top talent and we are very happy that he sees his future at RB Leipzig,” said sports director Marcel Schäfer at the time. The joy was more than justified: Diomande delivered 13 goals and ten assists in 36 games. The shooting star, who was valued at 1.5 million euros a year ago, gradually increased his valuation: initially to 20 million euros, then to 45 million euros, then to 75 million euros and in the most recent Bundesliga update to 90 million euros. The bottom line is that this corresponds to an increase of 5,900 percent. This probably isn’t the end of the road, as the right-footer won’t be 20 until November. His development could continue in Leipzig for at least another year, as he recently indicated in the “Kicker” interview.

The top three players with the greatest increases in market value are completed by the Paris Champions League winners Vitinha (26) and João Neves (21). The two Portuguese World Championship drivers gradually improved from 80 million to 140 million euros each (+ 75%). Among the players with the ten biggest jumps are Bayern professional Michael Olise (24; from 100 million to 150 million euros) and HSV loanee Luka Vuskovic (19; from 12 million to 60 million euros). Both players, unlike the German hopefuls Karl and El Mala, are at the World Cup. Karl, who had to leave injured, started off with a market value jump from 1.5 million to 60 million (+3,900%); El Mala experienced an increase from 3 million to 45 million euros (+ 1,400%), although the Cologne-based company even had to accept a loss of 5 million at one point.

Freiburg’s Europa League runner-up Johan Manzambi (20) is also among the top 20, increasing from 8 million to 50 million (+ 525%). Man City’s Antoine Semenyo (26), who managed to double his valuation from 40 million to 80 million euros, is the oldest representative in the top 20.
