A car was blown up in a Moscow suburb on Tuesday morning. The 62-year-old driver was killed. The incident took place in a residential area where families of soldiers live, writes the Ukrainian news agency UNN.
According to the Russian research platform The Insider, it concerns Damir Davydov, a high-ranking commander in the Russian army. This would be the fourth Russian general to be killed since the start of the war against Ukraine in February 2022.
The explosion is said to have occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time in Balashikha, a Moscow suburb. There, a moving BMW was detonated near an apartment building, authorities say.
Images show how a burning BMW rolls forward due to the impact. Unofficial Telegram channels claim that the driver was pulled alive from the burning wreckage. Yet he did not survive. The Russian medium Shot claims that an improvised explosive device containing about 400 grams of explosive was used.
