NH reporter Thijs-Jan van Aalst is on site at the Hillegommerdijk and sees that a ‘kind of misty smoke’ is blowing from the site. He also smells a pungent odor.
Additional emergency services have arrived at the site and a drone is in the air.
According to the spokesperson for the safety region, there are batteries in one of the burned buildings, which can remain warm for a long time. That may be the cause of the smoke development.
Fire at companies
The fire broke out yesterday around 4:15 p.m. There is a site on the Hillegommerdijk with several companies on it. In any case, there was a fire at a construction company and a garage.
The fire did not spread to the adjacent Global Garden garden centre. The extent of the damage is not yet known. Photos do show that the roof of one of the companies has partly collapsed.
The fire also released a lot of smoke. Two NL Alerts about this went off yesterday.
