Kathleen Aerts is grateful for her friendship with Karen Damen and Kristel Verbeke, with whom she formed the original formation of K3. The Belgian singer writes this in a message on Instagram, in which she looks back on the recent reunion shows. “In a world that is constantly changing, it was special to feel that some connections simply continue to exist,” she shares on Sunday.
“Some bonds cannot be broken by time, distance or everything that happens in between,” Aerts says about her friendship with the other singers. ‘The show stops. Love remains. I will miss you all very much, but my heart is overflowing with gratitude.’
Aerts is also grateful for all the people who worked behind the scenes and the audience who attended the performances. ‘We felt your love at every show.’
The singer, who lives in South Africa, looks back on ‘a wonderful adventure’ of 48 shows. ‘We would never have dared to dream.’
Aerts left K3 in 2009, after which Damen and Verbeke continued with the Dutch Josje Huisman. After this formation stopped in 2015, Marthe De Pillecyn, Hanne Verbruggen and Klaasje Meijer continued. The latter has now been replaced by Julia Boschman.
