Youp van ‘t Hek tried to watch Married at First Sight once. And once was enough to give Carlo Boszhard a serious beating. “He marries hopeless losers together.”
Carlo Boszhard is under fire in waves for his role in Married at First Sight, the program that became embroiled in a major scandal in England but continues as usual in the Netherlands. Critics wonder how you as a presenter can continue with a program that is clearly so unethical.
Yup critical
One of those critics is Youp van ‘t Hek. He catches up VARA guidecolumn to the program, to the participants, and to Carlo personally. The reason is the MAFS couple Mariska and Peter from the tenth season. They have announced that they are splitting up. “Sometimes letting go is also love and love changes form.”
Philosophy of the highest level, Youp sneers. “The hundred thousand relationship therapists that our spoiled country now has will certainly use that.”
Nonsense
What does Youp think of such people? “When I looked into this set of ignoramuses, it turned out to be two notorious weirdos who had participated in that wedding drama by Carlo Boszhard in which hopeless losers marry each other without ever having seen each other before.”
A bizarre concept, he thinks. “I tried to watch it a long time ago and saw seventeen commercial breaks with tiny bits in between of a poser Carlo who was supposedly dead serious about his patients.”
MAFS
What a shame, says Youp. “Married At First Sight is abbreviated as Mafs and that actually says enough. But this fringe group broke up and made a serious appeal to the fans to give them their privacy by leaving them alone.”
“I hope that they have been admitted to a clinic and that they are being lovingly cared for there. And maybe Carlo would like to visit every now and then for an hour. With a camera, of course.”
