In the summer of 2023, Daniel Peretz moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to FC Bayern, where the keeper hardly got a chance given the enormous competition. A loan to Hamburger SV in the summer of 2025 was supposed to be a way out, but the 25-year-old was also mostly on the bench in northern Germany. The result: The Munich team broke off the engagement in January 2026 and instead loaned the Israeli international to FC Southampton. A perfectly right decision that could culminate in a permanent transfer.
Southampton FC are said to be in “advanced discussions” with FC Bayern to explore a permanent move for goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. This is reported by Alfie House from the Daily Echo.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper can therefore easily imagine a commitment to the Saints, although doors should also be open to him elsewhere.
“I’m currently enjoying playing every game. Then we’ll see what the future brings. I have complete trust that God will lead me to the place that suits me best,” said Peretz in an interview with “Bild” about his situation in April. “If it ends up being Bayern, I would be incredibly happy. If not, then not. But no matter what happens – it will be for my own good,” he added.
The future in the goal of FC Bayern seems to have been decided
However, it now seems clear that there is no need for the German record champions. Two veterans, Plathirsch Manuel Neuer and backup Sven Ulreich, recently extended their contracts for another year until 2027, and Jonas Urbig, the designated Neuer heir, is also already in the squad.
The 22-year-old already acted regularly as a representative of the 40-year-old in 2025/26 and was usually able to convince across the board. Peretz, whose contract at Säbener Straße runs until the summer of 2028, would probably remain number three at most in this constellation.
