“Inflation was 6.6 percent for 2024 and 2025. In those years the salary increased by 8.8 percent. The fact that wages do not keep up with inflation is an incorrect statement in our opinion,” NZO spokesperson Tanja Copal responds.

In addition to a salary increase, the FNV advocates, among other things, a four-day working week and a higher allowance for people who participate in shifts. According to the NZO, that is not possible.

“It is a completely unfeasible package,” Copal responds. “With a paid four-day working week, you will end up with a huge cost item. Perhaps a wage increase of 12.5 percent. That is not healthy for the industry and not sustainable.”

Furthermore, the NZO states that the dairy sector already has a broad and strong collective labor agreement. The offer with a three percent increase should be sufficient.

But the strikers do not accept this so easily. “We have to wait a long time,” responds fellow striker Henk Nijsing. “And maybe I should just leave it at that,” he winks.
