Running influencer Joyce Hübner breaks the previous record set by a Belgian woman. But your project is not finished yet.

Joyce Hübner has set a running world record. The Berliner completed her 367th marathon consecutively over 367 days. No woman has achieved this before the running influencer. The record was 366, set by the Belgian Hilde Dosogne. She ran 42.195 kilometers on every day of the leap year in 2024.

It sounds “crazy”: world record holder Joyce Hübner. The word is somehow not really tangible, she told the German Press Agency. “I’m now the runner in the world with the most marathons in a row – then that sounds much more impressive. And it feels good to say that.”

The route took Hübner on Tuesday from Bookholt to Settrup in Lower Saxony. For her, marathon number 367 is far from over. In her biggest project to date, the 38-year-old is walking through the over 2,000 statistically recorded German cities.

“It will be exhausting every day,” said Hübner: “I never know what to expect.” Even though it may feel like she’s close to the finish line: “I have a huge respect for the 5,000 kilometers that still lie ahead until I get to Berlin.”

The goal is 495 marathons in 495 days

In total, she will cover a total of over 21,300 kilometers, divided into 495 marathons over 495 days. Hübner has not yet allowed herself a day of rest and according to her plan she will not take one in the remaining 128 marathons.

Before it started in Helmstedt on June 1st last year, one of her biggest worries was the cold in winter. “I don’t like running outside in temperatures several degrees below zero,” she said. She also made it through the cold season. She wants to complete the “Joyce city trip” on October 8th, the destination will be Berlin.

Hübner, who discovered running around eleven years ago and ran her first marathon in 2018, already has experience with such running projects. In 2023 she crossed the German border: 120 marathons in 143 days.
