All-blue derby in the quarterfinals between the Roman tennis player and the Ligurian tennis player in the quarterfinals in Paris: no precedent between the two at ATP level
Despite the sudden and unexpected elimination of Jannik Sinner in the second round, Italy has taken three tennis players to the quarter-finals of Roland Garros and is already certain of having a Slam semifinalist after the derby. And there could be two if Cobolli manages to beat the Canadian Auger-Aliassime. Let’s find out the prediction and odds for Berrettini-Arnaldi, the match scheduled for Wednesday 3 June at 1pm.
BERRETTINI-ARNALDI PREDICTION ODDS
—
Despite their presence on the ATP circuit for many years, there has never been a direct comparison between the two players who, thanks to their entry into the quarterfinals of the Roland Garros Slam, will make a big leap in the rankings. Already now, first in the derby between the two, the Roman has virtually risen from position number 105 to number 47 and, obviously, he can still improve with a possible entry into the semi-final. More or less the same path for the Ligurian, who entered as number 104 and is already potentially 53.
Never before had three Italian tennis players entered the quarterfinals of a Slam tournament at the same time: Paris, therefore, is giving us great satisfaction despite the farewell of Sinner, who was looking for his first victory in Paris thanks also to the absence of Alcaraz.
According to the bookies of the main betting sites, Berrettini is the favorite in the match against Arnaldi: odds for him are 1.55 on Admiralbet, 1.54 on Starcasinò and 1.51 on Vincitu. Arnaldi, on the other hand, is worth 2.41 on Vincitu, 2.40 on Admiralbet and 2.39 on Starcasinò.
THE ARNALDI MARATHON
—
The Ligurian was the protagonist of one of the longest marathons in the history of the Roland Garros Slam. In exactly five and a half hours he overcame the highly favored Tiafoe in five sets, when it seemed that he was now one step away from defeat. The final result shows how hard-fought this match was, closed by Arnaldi with a score of 7-6 6-7 3-6 7-6 6-4. In the fourth set the blue was two points away from defeat but managed to climb back up to a sensational success, achieved in the middle of the night.
Berrettini, however, had an easier time against Cerundolo jr, who had beaten Sinner in the second round taking advantage of the South Tyrolean’s illness (6-3 7-6 7-6 for the Roman). Matteo had not entered the quarterfinals of a Slam since the 2022 US Open: in the event of success against Arnaldi, he could even move up to number 32 in the ATP ranking after a period in which he had also been forced to play Challenger tournaments to get back on track.
In the count of overall games, the Over 39.5 which is on the board at 1.95 on Snai, 1.91 on Netbet, 1.90 on William Hill and 1.88 on Betflag should be evaluated.
