22 days have passed since Javier Milei promised that Manuel Adorni’s sworn statement was “imminent.” The Chief of Staff did not present it. According to journalist Manu Jove, although the deadline for the Anti-Corruption Office expires on July 31, ARCA’s expires in the first days of Junewhich makes “next week” a promise that no longer allows for too many extensions. Three months after the issue broke out publicly, Adorni’s entourage has already revealed the versions that would be used to justify the life of the nouveau riche of the couple who, before civil service, claimed spoiled sausages.
The father’s inheritance
The first explanation that circulates points to an inheritance from his father, who died in 2002. The estate in question would include a piece of land in Salazar, province of Buenos Aires, valued at no more than ten thousand dollars, and a third of an apartment in La Plata. According to Jove, “it doesn’t come” to justify the jump in assets attributed to the official.
Grandma’s inheritance
The second version involves an inheritance from his grandmother, the same argument that his brother Francisco already used to explain—in less than a week since he was denounced—his own wealth growth. For Jove, it wouldn’t be enough to cover the figures in question.
The tax innocence regime
The third hypothesis is the most controversial: taking advantage of the new tax innocence regime, which does not exclude officials. Under this logic, Adorni would maintain that I already had the money but I didn’t declare it for his anti-tax philosophy, and that only upon arriving at the Government did he begin to spend it. The problem is obvious: where does that money come from? From working with Marcelo Grandío on a weekly program on Grítalo TV? The same Greatio who took him on vacation and who later received contracts from Public TVorigin of another ongoing legal case.
The Crypto Clue
An additional possibility that is beginning to take shape is that Adorni attempts to justify his wealth with a cryptocurrency portfolioarguing that it already owned them and that the rise of bitcoin explains its growth. If so, it should be made clear that its omission from the first affidavit was in error and formally rectified.
What the journalist considers certain is the political conclusion of the upcoming story: “They want us to believe that he had money before and didn’t use it, but he started squandering it when he came to power”. And he warns that it is difficult for the courts to accept that version without demanding the historical movements of their wallets.
