Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß is confident ahead of the landmark quarter-final second leg in the Champions League against Villarreal. “I’m convinced that we can do it,” said Hoeneß to “Münchner Merkur” before the game on Tuesday (9 p.m. / Amazon Prime).
Bayern lost the first leg in Spain 0-1. He had already experienced such a situation in 2015, added former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Back then, Bayern had to turn back a 3-1 draw against FC Porto in the quarter-finals.
“It was quite a circus there too. We then won the second leg in the Allianz Arena 6-1. Pressure is sometimes good, although of course you want to avoid it,” said Rummenigge, who set the direction for the game on Tuesday evening: ” FC Bayern have to attack from the start.”
