Klara Bühl decides to stay at FC Bayern despite lucrative offers abroad. The 25-year-old leaves it open how long it will stay that way.
Winger Klara Bühl has decided to stay at FC Bayern – even though there were lucrative offers from abroad, especially from England. The 25-year-old already extended her contract until 2027 last year. She could then leave the club for free.
Bühl explained her decision in an interview with the Sport Information Service (SID). She wants to “continue on the path with Bayern and this young, well-composed team and the coach and try to get even closer to the Champions League title.” There was already interest back then, said Bühl: “I also looked at alternatives. But in order to show my performance, this overall package with the feel-good factor is extremely important – and that fits at Bayern.”
Right time and overall package
Bühl left it open as to what will happen after the coming season. She is in a “very good starting position” and wants to “keep all options open”. She would like to calmly consider when the time has come for the next step – it’s “always about the overall package – and the right time.”
The Champions League provides a driving force. Barcelona’s ensemble around three-time world footballer Aitana Bonmatí was still too strong for the Munich team in the semi-finals of this season. Bühl nevertheless assured that Bayern could also make a big splash internationally – “otherwise I wouldn’t have decided to stay.”
Bonmatí had publicly named Bühl as her dream player to move to Barcelona. The national player accepted the praise. It’s an “incredible appreciation” that she’s happy to take with her “as a little booster” – but it’s “not a decisive factor for my future.” In the end, Bühl emphasized, “I have to make my own decision.”
