The Nij Begun Resident Budget starts today. This is a budget for initiatives from, for and by residents of the province of Groningen and the municipalities of Tynaarlo, Noordenveld and Aa en Hunze. The residents budget is part of it the Social Agenda of Nij Begun which was established last year.
Budget for very different activities
The residents’ budget is intended for residents’ own activities that contribute to the quality of life or social connection in their neighborhood, district or village. Residents can request a budget for many different initiatives. For example, for purchasing materials to build a flower bed together or for organizing meetings where neighbors can get to know each other better. The budget can also be requested to organize a sporting event with neighbors or to make art or music together. This may involve the application for a small or large amount, up to a maximum of €10,000.

The Northern Netherlands Partnership (SNN) implements the subsidy. Residents can submit a request via www.inwonersbudget.nl. They can also get help with the application. This can be done via 050 30 50 211 or [email protected].
Nij Begun’s Social Agenda
The Nij Begun Social Agenda is part of the government’s Nij Begun response due to the consequences of years of gas extraction in Groningen and North Drenthe. The agenda focuses on more opportunities for children, less poverty, good health and better quality of life. The government releases 100 million euros for this every year for 30 years.
