The term femicide is rarely used in legal cases, while explicitly naming it helps to make it more visible how big the problem is. New research shows that judges and officers differ sharply on the question of whether there should be a separate femicide law at all. For example, some say: “If you state in such a femicide law that it only concerns murdered women and girls, you exclude a group.”
