If Telstar loses or draws against Heracles, there is not immediately a man overboard. If Volendam wins or the Palingboeren draw against Excelsior, Telstar can always beat Volendam on the last match day. On the final day of the competition, the people of Velsen will visit FC Volendam.
In case Excelsior is also within reach, they will play the final round against Sparta Rotterdam.
Doomsday scenario
A doomsday scenario is also possible. That actually only applies to FC Volendam. Theoretically, the current number 17 of the Premier League, NAC Breda, can still be on par with the Volendam team in points.
NAC must win twice (against SC Heerenveen at home and AZ away) and Volendam must lose twice. Only in that scenario would Volendam disappear straight into the first division swamp. For Telstar this only applies in theory. The difference in goal difference between Telstar (currently -10) and NAC Breda (currently -25) is too big for that.
Salon depot
Can FC Volendam and Telstar come to an agreement and opt for a draw and opt for the so-called salon depot? In that case, both North Holland teams are not certain of another year in the Premier League in any scenario.
