Zentrix Consulting released a public opinion study in which it showed a pronounced deterioration in the image of the national government. An aspect that had not been pointed out so clearly in the figure of Javier Milei until this moment. According to the interpretation of specialists, the promise of confronting the so-called caste appears more weakened today in the face of public opinion that begins to symbolize the libertarian administration as that continuity of practices that it claimed to come to combat.
The survey, corresponding to the April measurement, included 1,559 cases from the country’s 24 jurisdictions and showed that the perception of corruption in the Milei government has ceased to be a side issue and has become a central factor of official wear. The data arises promptly from the Public Opinion Monitor (MOP)a study developed by the same consulting firm with the purpose of surveying social perceptions of political leaders and national economic evaluation.
According to the study, 57.3 percent surveyed perceive widespread corruption in management and 60.2 percent interpret the complaints as part of a general government problem. A problematic aspect for Casa Rosada, when Javier Milei himself built his legitimacy with the idea of coming to confront “the caste.” The consultation highlighted that 66.6 percent of those surveyed believe that this pact was broken and that the president ended up being part of what he promised to fight.
Along the same lines, the Zentrix study shows that the government’s loss of credibility in the face of cases of corruption does not end in the perception of already known facts, but rather begins to compromise trust in its real will to prevent them. 66.6 percent of those consulted consider that the administration of La Libertad Avanza is not committed to avoiding acts of corruption, compared to only 32.2 percent who recognize some degree of commitment.

In this context, moral deterioration overlaps with management wear and tear. There is a decrease in presidential approval to 33.1 percent, while the idea grows that the so-called “anti-caste pact” has lost validity. “There appears one of the most sensitive movements in the current social climate: the complaints not only affect the public image of the ruling party, but also begin to touch its most intimate area, the identity core that differentiated it from the rest of the political system,” they stated from Zentrix.
In April, Milei’s image deteriorates further and enters a more delicate phase. The positive image falls to 35.2 percent, the negative rises to 59.3 percent and the differential becomes clearly adverse, with 24 points against. “The most relevant political fact is not only the magnitude of this gap, but the speed of change: just two months ago the presidential image was moving in a zone of virtual tie, and today it appears fully moved towards negative territory. This shift suggests that the president is beginning to absorb in a more direct way the accumulated cost of social unrest,” they predicted.
On the other hand, data on the domestic economy is added to this wear and tear: 81.6 percent of those surveyed acknowledge that in the last six months they had to give up something to support themselves, from going out, leisure or non-essential consumption to regular household purchases and, in the most delicate cases, basic expenses such as food, health or services. “The adjustment, thus, ceased to be an abstract discussion about macroeconomic variables and became a daily experience of deprivation, where an important part of society is no longer cutting surpluses, but rather central aspects of its daily life,” they observed.
In turn, 86.6 percent feel that their salary does not beat inflation and 60.4 percent affirm that their income only lasts until the 20th of the month; Social tolerance towards adjustment begins to depend more and more on the credibility of the government. “And that is where complaints of corruption acquire a much more corrosive effect: they do not break into a stable society, but rather into homes that are already making efforts, resigning consumption and managing deprivations,” concluded Zentrix Consultora.
