Henk Krol strongly advises the men of Today Inside to move their talk show from SBS 6 to RTL 4. He thinks it would end in failure. “That’s always the case.”
The Today Inside trio is under contract with SBS 6 for another year, but after that they are free to go wherever they want, if Johan Derksen (77) is still in good health by then. Now that Peter van der Vorst has been exchanged as RTL boss for former VI boss Peter Lubbers, it could be that they move to the commercial competitor.
Henk critical
Hélène Hendriks has already been signed by SBS 6 for five years, so if the men from VI leave for RTL 4, you can bet that she will become the new talk show face of John de Mol’s channel. And then Hélène and the men of VI become direct competitors: an uncomfortable situation.
Former politician Henk Krol, who has also been a guest in VI, would advise Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan against moving to RTL. “Switching presenters often doesn’t work,” he says Story.
Eva and Arjen
According to Henk, there is a good chance that it will fail. “You saw this, among others, with Arjen Lubach, who left the VPRO to go to RTL. Things went well with Eva Jinek, but she also returned from RTL to the NPO, the old nest. Moreover, she got better broadcasting times.”
Bobbi Eden, actress in nature films, advises both parties against it. “After the RTL Tonight debacle, it seems wiser to me that they start building a new and fresh late-night program with Renze Klamer. Stubborn
RTL really needs to chart its own course, Bobbi thinks. “RTL 4 needs to start believing in itself again and give Renze full confidence instead of stealing Today Inside from SBS6.”
And finally, former singer Anita Heilker: “Today Inside belongs to SBS, just like Hélène Hendriks. Let RTL think of something else for itself. It is also becoming increasingly clear to me that the presenters at SBS6 are closest to the people. They know: act normal, then you are acting crazy enough. That is why they are so successful.”
