Coach Albert Riera leaves the rumors about his future at Eintracht Frankfurt cold. “I’m not worried,” answered the 44-year-old when asked whether he was under pressure before the fateful game against Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening (8:30 p.m./Sky) on the penultimate Bundesliga matchday.

“I mean – that’s not important. What’s important is that the team gets points in these two games. That’s all. I’m not worried about it. I know exactly how this job works,” explained Riera. Meanwhile, speculation about a quick end continues to grow.

How “Sky” reports, a separation after the end of the season is currently planned. In the event of a debacle against BVB, this could also take place immediately. However, this scenario should be avoided, because after the season, according to the report, Eintracht could end the contract, which runs until 2028, quite inexpensively thanks to a clause. Frankfurt is already exploring the coaching market and has four candidates on the list. One of them is Matthias Jaissle, who recently won the AFC Champions League with Al-Ahli for the second time in a row.

Riera’s focus is currently on the duel with BVB: “I want to win. With a great, great desire.” The training was groundbreaking. On Friday, the Frankfurters just have to show that they work as a team. “The title of tomorrow’s game is: Team Game.” Riera only took over from Dino Toppmöller at Eintracht at the beginning of February, and after twelve games he has an average points average of 1.33 – worse than his predecessor (1.55). Most recently, Frankfurt remained winless three times in a row.

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Riera is insightful

At the press conference a week ago before the game against Hamburger SV (1:2), the self-confident Spaniard – among other things when asked about an alleged conflict with striker Jonathan Burkardt (25) – also criticized the media. Now he was insightful: “We have to accept – starting with me – that if you don’t win, you also have to accept criticism.”
