According to exclusive information from RTL/ntv and sport.de, Union Berlin is interested in central defender Eray Cömert. The Swiss international currently plays for FC Valencia, but would be available on a free transfer after the season due to his contract expiring. Cömert has played 20 games for Valencia this season and scored two goals – at the age of 28, the 20-time Swiss international with Turkish roots could move to the Bundesliga after the season.
One reason for Union’s interest: the impending departures of Danilho Doekhi and Diego Leite. The two central defenders will most likely leave Union for free after the remaining two games of the season, so the Iron Men need replacements. With Cömert they could have found what they were looking for in Spain.
