FC Ingolstadt is running far behind its own expectations this season. The managing director must now go.
There are personnel cuts at FC Ingolstadt. Managing director Dietmar Beiersdorfer and the third division team are going their separate ways after more than four and a half years.
As the club announced, the separation was by mutual consent. The background was “open discussions about future directions”. Beiersdorfer initially joined the Schanzer as Sports Managing Director in November 2021, when the club was at the bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. The former Bundesliga professional has been the sole managing director since the summer of 2022.
The club explained: “After intensive discussions about the future strategic direction of the club, both sides agreed that there are different views on the future course.” President Peter Jackwerth said: “Didi joined us in a challenging phase and played a key role in shaping the realignment of our club. Unfortunately, developments have not recently turned out as hoped.” In terms of sport, the Ingolstadt team trained by Sabrina Wittmann are in 15th place in the 3rd league two match days before the end of the season, and they are guaranteed to stay in the league.
Beiersdorfer himself said in his farewell: “The last few years at FC Ingolstadt 04 were a very formative time for me, in which the club grew extremely close to my heart. I am all the more grateful for the trust that I was able to feel over the four and a half years, as well as for the always good cooperation with the committees, the employees, the coaches and the team as well as the entire environment.” The 62-year-old did not provide any information about his future. The club announced that it would reposition itself in the areas of sports, finance, sales and public relations.
