It is an exciting week for Ali B, because in three days the verdict in the appeal in his abuse case will follow. Will he go along with the judge’s decision or will he flee to Morocco?

Ali B was sentenced at first instance to a prison term of two years for rape and attempted rape. This week it can go either way: the court can confirm, reduce or increase the sentence. Critics expect that the rapper will not be able to avoid the fact that he will soon disappear behind bars for a while.

To Morocco?

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker thinks it will remain approximately at those two years. “I can hardly imagine that a judge will pass judgment with much more margin, but we have to see,” he says in The Orange Sunday.

Presenter Hélène Hendriks then: “Now, in the depths of the interview, of course, people shout: ‘He will go to Morocco very quickly, because there is no extradition behavior!’ There is, by the way. That has already been signed in 2023, with Yesilgöz, but that is for serious crime. Do you think he would do the right thing for himself to leave?”

Not smart

Guido would think that was stupid. “What do you gain from this? He can appeal to cassation. If he doesn’t want to and he flees now, then yes, then his career is of course over and done with. He simply can’t go here anymore. Yes, that’s a bit penny wise, pound foolish. I think it would be a very stupid move, but hey, he has done stupider things in my opinion.”

Finally, table guest Ruytger Castricum: “When he called me at that time, he said: ‘I’m certainly not going to sit down for what I haven’t done.’ I just wonder if you actually do that at some point, because you also have children. You are a fugitive then. Yeah, you’re not going to do that. He really thinks he didn’t do it.”
