The Bolognese happy for the success in Miami: “It wasn’t easy due to the start and because I couldn’t do anything wrong with Norris. But I stayed focused and brought it home. The title? I have to raise the bar and Russell in Canada I already know will be very strong”
“We need to stay focused, the championship is still long.” The beauty of Kimi Antonelli is that even after three poles and three consecutive victories in F1, something exceptional for a boy who is only 19 years old, he really knows how not to let it go to his head. The Mercedes man from Bologna commented on the victory in Miami without elation, obviously happy, but absolutely down to earth if anyone tries to talk to him about fighting for the world title.
bar

“Yes, we have to stay focused – he told Sky Sport F1 – and continue to raise the bar. Russell will certainly be very strong in Canada because last year he was really strong, so we will have to stay focused and continue working. I will certainly enjoy the moment, but then I will focus on Canada because it will be important, after another two and a half weeks, to come back even stronger. I dedicate this victory to Alex Zanardi.”
problems ahead
—
Even in this race the problem was at the start. Antonelli told it like this: “It was a complicated race – he said – at the start I had zero confidence because all the tests hadn’t been good. We changed the target many times and in the end it wasn’t even that bad. But I made an error of judgment with Leclerc, who braked a bit earlier than I expected and so I went long to avoid him. I was lucky with how things went. And after that we battled, I made a mistake with the use of energy, in fact after Norris passed me. But after that the pace was good. Let’s say it was much faster than the Sprint and I had to stay very focused in the race because I knew that any small mistake could bring Lando closer. So it wasn’t easy, but I’m happy to have brought it home.”
