Hard fought Ajax victory against relegation candidate Sparta | Football

After more than half an hour of play André Onana made a mistake. The Ajax goalie played the ball far too carelessly, from which Sparta could take advantage. In the end it was Joeri de Kamps, who once played in youth for the team from Amsterdam, who took advantage of this opportunity and signed for the 1-0.

Another setback in the first half for the team from Amsterdam was the failure of Nicolás Tagliafico. The Argentinian, who finally started in the base again, had to leave the field injured. He was replaced by Kenneth Taylor.

Ajax could hardly make a fist against the Rotterdam team before half-time. On the stroke of half-time there was a chance for Sébastien Haller, but his sights were in the wrong direction.

Ajax came out of the dressing room furious. After a fine action by Dusan Tadic, the ball ended up with Davy Klaassen, who made it 1-1 in the 62nd minute, helped by Sparta goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who was not completely clear.

After more than an hour of play, Ajax had managed to turn the deficit into a lead thanks to Dusan Tadic who hit the ball from eleven meters: 2-1. Referee Pol van Boekel had put the ball on the spot after a handball by Adil Auassar.

After that, Erik ten Hag’s team could have run further, but a goal by Haller was rejected after intervention by van der VAR due to offside. Klaassen’s ball hit the post. But Ajax did not succeed in giving the Spartans the final final blow, so that it remained tense in the ArenA until the final whistle. No more goals were scored in the six minutes of extra time.
